A George II silver 'acorn' nutmeg grater David Field, London circa 1748 Naturalistic acorn form, of tri-form construction, the whole embossed with floral and foliate decoration, the domed cover with acorn-shaped finial is secured with a screw thread, unscrewing to reveal a steel rasp, a middle section below also with a screw thread attaching to the lower section, of flared cylindrical form, to house the nutmeg pod itself, height 5cm, weight 1oz.
